Overview: 

Ciaran Walker, Consultant, Eversheds Sutherland, will discuss the topic of how to improve ethical behaviours and culture in financial services firms. His talk will cover issues such as the importance of understanding what motivates individuals to act (un)ethically; the importance of ethical identity; the challenges, within financial services firms, of acting ethically and how these might be addressed. His talk will develop some of the themes outlined in his co-authored 2022 book “New Accountability in Financial Services: Changing Individual Behaviour and Culture”.

Ciaran Walker, Consultant, Eversheds Sutherland LLP

Ciaran is a Consultant in Eversheds Sutherland, having joined the firm in October 2016.

Ciaran specialises in advising on regulatory issues, in particular in the financial services. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland he was Deputy Head of Enforcement with the Central Bank of Ireland.

Ciaran advises to a wide range of national and global financial services institutions, on financial services regulatory issues, including governance, enforcement investigations and fitness & probity issues.

Ciaran is regularly invited to speak at conferences internationally on these topics. His recent relevant publications include his 2022 co-authored book, “New Accountability in Financial Services: Changing Individual Behaviour and Culture”  and his article on individual accountability regimes and culture for the 2022 edition of the Starling Trust global compendium of thought leadership on “Culture & Conduct Risk in the Banking Sector”.
